Cerecare's News Letter - February

Hello everyone

This newsletter is a month late - apologies, Christmas, New Year and snow got in the way!

SNOW

We would like to pass on thanks, gratitude, praise and amazement at how you managed to get to our most vulnerable clients during the awful weather conditions recently. Please remember that you are not expected to put yourself into dangerous situations and should always carry out your own risk assessment on your own journeys/timetable etc.  In any extreme circumstances, your senior will be putting the emergency contingency plan into action to reduce unnecessary journeys but, if you feel that a particular client would be at risk without a call, then please inform your senior.

NEW EMPLOYEES

We would like to welcome the following staff who have joined the Company recently:

Bernadette Allerton, working in Cathryn's area.

Natasha Howells, Cathryn's area

Eirian Crayford, also Cathryn's area

Delyth Williams, working in Heather's area

Chantelle Murphy, working in Franki's area

Elaine Pelham, support worker.

We wish them all well and hope they enjoy their new roles.

NVQ

Congratulations to Kelly Charlton, Catrin Milcoy and Katy Newborough on achieving their NVQ Level II recently

FUND RAISING

The fund raising day on 6th November raised £194.00 for the Alzheimer's Society.  Thank you and well done to everyone who took part.

TRAINING

If you have visited the offices recently, you may have noticed that we now have more desks downstairs. This means that we will be able to use Marianne's old office upstairs as a Manual Handling training room.  Sam is planning to run the 3 day induction courses and updates from March this year in the new training room.  This will mean that you will no longer be expected to travel to Cross Hands or Haverfordwest for this training.

Heather Bird is still working towards her A1 Assessor's Award but, until she is ready, the College will be doing our A1 assessing. We have a new NVQ intake at the end of February. Sam will continue to carry out observations.

Child Protection training is now part of our mandatory training.

CONTRACTS

Our tender with Carmarthenshire County Council was successful and our contract has been renewed.

Our contract with Pembrokeshire County Council at Clyn View has been extended to May but we know that they are taking bookings throughout the year.

INSPECTION

Our annual inspection by CSSIW will take place on 10 February.  Some of our clients will have been invited to take part in this. We will let you know the outcome in the next newsletter.
